The Call for Papers is now open for the upcoming edition of the European Academy of Design (EAD) Conference, which will take place in Porto from 3-7 May 2027, hosted by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP) in collaboration with ID+.
About the Conference
EAD 2027 is centred on the theme “TRUST” – a concept that sits at the core of contemporary societal, technological and cultural transformations.
In a world increasingly shaped by digital infrastructures, artificial intelligence, and global networks, trust is both a condition and a challenge. From AI-mediated decision-making to platform economies and social interaction, design plays a critical role in how trust is constructed, negotiated and redefined.
At the same time, this balance is under pressure. Issues such as privacy concerns, algorithmic opacity and the erosion of social cohesion reveal the fragility of trust in contemporary systems.
EAD 2027 invites critical reflection on how design can explore, challenge and strengthen the foundations of trust in this shifting landscape.
