On February 5 and 6, the kick-off meeting for the Erasmus+ RECYCLING SHOE – Advanced Education for Recycling and Circular Economy in the Shoe Industry project took place. This is a European initiative dedicated to promoting recycling and the circular economy in the footwear sector.
The meeting took place at the Portuguese Footwear Technology Center (CTCP) on February 5 and at APPICAPS on February 6. The project is led by CTCP and includes higher education institutions, research centers, and leading European associations in the footwear sector, namely:

The project aims to develop a joint European Master’s program specializing in recycling and the circular economy applied to the footwear sector, integrating the latest scientific advances, design, innovation in materials, and the European regulatory framework. The main activities planned include surveying the latest regulations and research and development results, designing the Master’s curriculum and content, training teachers, implementing pilot activities, and disseminating the results to the academic and industrial communities.
The University of Aveiro is participating in the project through a team consisting of Pedro Carvalho de Almeida (ID+ local coordinator), Nina Costa (ID+), and Victor Neto (TEMA), reinforcing its contribution to research and innovation in sustainability, design, and the circular economy.
