On 25 and 26 September, at 7.00 pm, the Vila do Conde Municipal Theatre [Salão Nobre] will host *Diaporama*, a project by Cesário Alves, in collaboration with Hélder Luís, Mariana Sardon and Miguel Pipa, as part of *Circular — Festival of Performing Arts*.
Journeys through time and memory, via 35mm slides found in various parts of the world. Orphaned photographs of unknown people, intermingled with fragments of film recovered from the rubbish bins of projection booths in old cinemas. The soundscape includes recordings on magnetic tape – many of them found – as well as radio waves, and concrete and synthetic noises produced in the moment, such as foley for a film or a spiritual séance.
This work raises a lingering question that we cannot help but keep putting off: when we die, what purpose do the personal archives we have accumulated serve?
