European Academy of Design (EAD) Conference 2027

The Call for Papers is now open for the upcoming edition of the European Academy of Design (EAD) Conference, hosted by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP) in collaboration with ID+ - Research Institute for Design, Media and Culture.
Taking place in Porto from 3-7 May 2027, EAD 2027 explores the theme “TRUST”.
In a world increasingly shaped by digital infrastructures, artificial intelligence and global networks, trust has become both a condition and a challenge. From AI-mediated decision-making to platform economies and social interaction, design plays a central role in how trust is constructed, negotiated and transformed.
EAD 2027 invites researchers, designers, practitioners, educators and students to contribute perspectives on the role of design in shaping trust across diverse contexts - public and private, physical and digital, individual and collective.
Particular attention is given to submissions engaging with:
- transparency and accountability
- ethics and governance
- resilience and sustainability
- digital systems and platform economies
- cultural exchange and meaning-making
