Tiago Assis has a degree in Communication Design from ESAD - College of Art and Design, a Master's in Multimedia Production and Design from the University of Barcelona (UB), a PhD from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), and is a professor and researcher at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP). He had a highly privileged path, due to social structures and conditions, which also correlated with access to a very exclusive technological education. The fact that he had such an education led him to research the inherent processes of exclusion and to analyze his own actions critically. This reflection brought him closer to a critical theory of communication, drawing on post-structuralist and post-colonial frameworks. It is in this dynamic that he works in Arts Education, teaching and researching, increasingly focused on environmental, technology, and identity issues.
