Open Lecture –  A Quiet Stillness: creative change through tacit ways of knowing.

The University of Aveiro and Research Institute for Design, Media and Culture [ID+] invites the academic community and the general public to the open lecture ‘A Quiet Stillness: creative change through tacit ways of knowing’, which will take place on 24 October, from 2pm to 4pm, in the CCCI auditorium in the Department of Communication and Art. At this event, Stuart Walker, an international reference in design for sustainability, will address the urgent need to change the values that have prevailed in the modern era and which have contributed to increasing social inequality and environmental destruction.
According to the author, this is a fundamental change in order to establish new ways of living that are in harmony with nature and the common good. However, it is not possible to simply choose new values; a kind of tacit learning is required, a fundamental learning process in the creative arts. Through this approach, Stuart Walker proposes to reflect on how design can play a crucial role in this transformation.
