The European Academy of Design is hosting three global online events in late April, 2025, to help establish an agenda of ongoing activities supporting the needs of the design research community. We envision this series as a more responsive complement to regular conferences. Right now, we propose two foundation setting events and the first of a series of themed conversations addressing concerns affecting design research as we write this.
EAD has always prided itself as a listening, agile responsive organisation. Responding to a range of connections, comments and interventions, we feel that the time is right to pause our two-yearly cycle of conference calls, tracks, papers and presentations in order to take stock and develop an ongoing series of rapid responses to these times not constrained (for the moment) by a cycle of conferences. We want to investigate how design research can change, thrive and be an active force for good in these turbulent times.
Like many designers, we don’t propose to offer neat, easy solutions off the shelf; but we can offer structures, venues and spaces for exploring and finding a way forward together.
Participation is free but registration is required. Submitted data is confidential and will not be used for any other purposes beyond registration.
The online events of the European Academy of Design are co-organised Prof. heitor Alvelos (Vice-President EAD) and Prof. Susana Barreto (Executive Coordinator EAD).
