Teresa Franqueira elected vice-president of the CUMULUS Association

University of Aveiro lecturer re-elected to the Executive Board of the largest international association for teaching and research in design

On 6 June, during the annual General Assembly of the CUMULUS Association in Nantes, the new President and Executive Board were elected for the three-year period 2025-2028. CUMULUS is the world’s largest higher education association in the fields of design, architecture, media and the arts, currently bringing together 377 member institutions from 71 countries.

Teresa Franqueira, a professor at the Department of Communication and Art (DeCA) at the University of Aveiro (UA) and a researcher at ID+ (Institute for Research in Design, Media and Culture), was re-elected to the association’s Executive Board for a second term. In this new composition, she was also appointed vice-president of CUMULUS, a position she shares with Roberto Iñiguez Flores, from Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), a member of ECIU University.

Teresa Franqueira’s appointment as vice-president of CUMULUS is recognition of the work carried out at the University of Aveiro in the areas of design and applied research, reinforcing the presence of the UA and ID+ in international networks of excellence. This role also contributes to affirming Portuguese institutions in the global discussion on design education and research policies.
