"Re/Discover Helena Cardoso" Exhibition Opening
29 July, 16:00
Vila Nova de Gaia Public Library Gallery
The first exhibition in a series, which aims to be vast, as part of the project Conhecer, Mapear, Divulgar, an initiative by designers and researchers Maria Bruno Néo and Luís Mendonça.
Exhibition opening and talk with the designer and other guests.
It presents the work of designer Helena Cardoso, with over 40 years of work, and brings together around 80 artefacts produced in different techniques and materials, texts and photographs by Marta Ribas, from the 15 municipalities in northern Portugal where the designer developed her work: Castro Daire, Cabeceiras de Basto, Terras de Bouro, Caminha, Vila Verde, Viana do Castelo, Vale de Cambra, Amarante, Barcelos, Arouca, Guimarães, Vila do Conde, Vila Nova de Gaia, Matosinhos and Porto.
The exhibition project also reflects one of the concepts present in the designer's work: Reuse, a concept that is increasingly present on current sustainability agendas. The entire exhibition support was made from reused materials, almost all of which had reached the end of their lives, with the collaboration of local companies and the Vila Nova de Gaia municipality.
