Trying to imagine what a conference should address two years from now is, in itself, a matter of confidence. The speed of developments and transformations occurring in the present day brings with it unprecedented levels of volatility: from AI-mediated decision-making to the return of radical ideologies, from volatile civic dynamics to emerging forms of superstition, the erosion of trust has marked our days and will most likely continue to do so in the foreseeable future.
In this ever-changing landscape, how can design research strengthen and regenerate the foundations of trust? This question inspires the theme of EAD 2027 as an overarching topic that brings together the full range of epistemological interests surrounding design research and practice.
