𝐊𝐘𝐎𝐓𝐎 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐛 will hold a public lecture featuring 𝐋í𝐠𝐢𝐚 𝐋𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬, an industrial designer from Portugal and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto.
Lígia Lopes created a set of objects combining traditional techniques and knowledge of Tango Chirimen using contemporary materials through the Textile Summer School (2019) organized by the KYOTO Design Lab.
This project was planned and operated under the leadership of Professor Julia Cassim, who was one of the pioneer contributors to creating the KYOTO Design Lab and passed away in June 2024, and she had established a profound connection with Professor Cassim.
In this lecture, Lígia Lopes will reflect on her projects at the KYOTO Design Lab and with Professor Julia Cassim, as well as discuss her current activities as a designer.
