Graduated in Architecture at Politecnico di Milano, Emanuela Bonini Lessing is Associate Professor at Università Iuav di Venezia, where she was awarded a Ph.D. in product and visual design. She was awarded with Certificad of Advenced Studies by Zurich Hochschule der Künste (CH) too. Recipient of international research grants - Marie Slodowska Curie, SNIS, DAAD – as well as others at national and regional scale, she has been Visiting Professor at Universidade La Salle, Canoas (BR) and Universitade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre (BR) and Lecturer at FAU- Universidade de São Paulo, São Paulo (BR), University ORT, Montevideo (UY), Universidad de la Republica, Montevideo (UY), Hochschule Augsburg, Augsburg (DE), Universidade de Aveiro (PT) and granted with Erasmus Teaching Staff funding. Prof. Bonini Lessing is member of the Design sciences curriculum at Iuav School of doctorate studies, supervising thesis of both Iuav and FAU-Universidade de São Paulo (double degree) candidates. She is co-founder of Visual Discovery Conference, an annual international academic meeting (since 2018) on information design, data visualization, visual storytelling. She is editorial member of international scientific journals and speaker at international meeting on a regular base. Her main research interests are: communication design, environmental graphic design, information design, public and civic design, design theory.
