Miguel Vieira began his academic journey in 2018 in a bachelor’s degree in Product Design and Technology at ESAN, University of Aveiro. During his undergraduate studies, he additionally completed an internship at Systems4you - Electronics and Software Development, contributing to the development of a router for CNC machine control. In 2021, he enrolled in the master’s degree in Engineering and Product Design at the University of Aveiro. He conducted his dissertation in partnership with the Ecomare - Laboratory for Innovation and Sustainability of Marine Biological Resources at the University of Aveiro. His dissertation investigated the design of three-dimensional matrices to enhance the adherence and propagation of tropical coral species using additive manufacturing techniques and generative design. During his master’s studies, he also codeveloped the strategic design and development of an African cuisine restaurant for university students, in a project in collaboration with Labic Aveiro and Mon na Mon associations.
Currently, he is a PhD candidate in the doctoral program in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Aveiro, affiliated with the research units Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation (TEMA) and the Institute of Research in Design, Media, and Culture (ID+). He is a research fellow in the Mobilizing Agenda for Business Innovation "ATE - Alliance for Energy Transition", collaborating with several companies and research institutions on the development of energy transmission solutions, particularly in the case of power transformers. His current research focuses on the development of modular architectures of complex products, through an interdisciplinary approach.
