SUSTAIN-E aims to explore disruptive and sustainable solutions – either of material, geometrical, morphological, or functional nature - for protective gear in the scope of e-micromobility (EMM). The main goal is to investigate the potential of new concepts for protective equipment by developing new eco-friendly composite structures with enhanced impact performance and specifically designed for new challenges and concepts of transportation within the panorama of EMM. SUSTAIN-E concepts for EMM will be explored based on the safety requirements for this type of gear and vehicles, and at a later stage, the user needs and compatibility with this type of transportation, which will result in two stages of experiments, from mechanical to weathering testing, and exploratory conceptual design based on EMM specifications. In addition, the primary sustainability of the exploratory solutions will be monitored and analysed in a third stage dedicated to life cycle assessment (LCA).
