Urban Transformation and Public Safety

Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) Erasmus+

The University of Porto, in collaboration with InHolland University, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Pisa, hosted the 3rd edition of this programme in 2024 in Porto.

The programme included field activities, classes, lectures, and final presentations by students. At the conclusion of this year’s course, representatives from the Porto City Council were present to review the outcomes and particularly the improvement proposals for case study areas such as the Antas Zone in Porto.

The masterclasses focus on topics related to Urban Transformation, Sustainability, Public Safety, and Urban Management, including the relationship between crime and urban space (Environmental Criminology, Place-Based Criminology, CPTED), and morphological analysis tools (Street Profile Analysis, Spacematrix, Mixed-Use Index, Space Syntax).
