A team of designers and engineers from the University of Aveiro (UA) was honoured with this year’s iF DESIGN AWARD, one of the world’s most prestigious design awards. The winning project, Flattie – Helmet for micromobility, was awarded in the Product discipline, in the Bicycles category.
Designed in the departments of Mechanical Engineering and Communication and Art by researchers Eduardo Noronha (ID+ member), Ricardo Sousa, Fábio Fernandes and Gabriel Serra, Flattie is the first helmet that is completely flattened to the size of a 15-inch laptop, thus offering a 70 per cent reduction in its shell volume.
