Miguel Machado de Sá Abreu Terroso

With a degree in Industrial Design from Porto Universidade Lusíada, later complemented his training with a master's degree in Industrial Design from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and from the Higher School of Arts and Design of Matosinhos.

Beginning his professional activity at the office furniture company FAMO, after this experience, he worked in co-authorship with Carlos Pereira on several product, equipment and interior projects, some of which were awarded in national and international competitions.

He is currently an adjunct professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave in the Industrial Design Project area, and director of the first professional technical course in footwear design. He was also a co-founder of the startup Bowear that thinks, designs and develops solutions for physical protection and wearables for detecting falls. He believes that in the future we will be more, older and we will mainly live in big cities.

He received a PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and intends to continue to develop applied research to product design and development focused on groups with extreme needs. Being a native of the northern coast of Portugal, his geographical relationship with the sea awakened his taste for swimming from an early age. This direct relationship with water sharpened his interest in nature and today he still has one of his great sources of inspiration.
